Ambitious refurbishment of the Helaba office complex in Offenbach
Temme // Obermeier was awarded the contract to design and install the ETFE foil cushion roof that covers the central atrium at the heart of the new Helaba complex in Offenbach.
Temme // Obermeier was selected by Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen (Helaba) to install the ETFE foil cushion roof designed by BGF+ Architekten from Wiesbaden.
Helaba acquired the office building, which dates back to the 1990s, for its own staff once the extensive refurbishments are carried out. The building, once finished, will be home to about 1,700 members of staff. In a city, where space is at a premium, the clever addition of the ETFE foil cushion roof creates an additional 1,100 m² floor space. This huge central reception hall houses much needed canteen and breakout areas.
To achieve the U-value of 1.5 W / (m²K), a foil cushion roof system from Temme // Obermeier with three chambers was required. Temme // Obermeier´s integrated shading system ensures that solar gain can be managed in the summer months and ambient comfort is guaranteed.
The column-free foil cushion roof spans more than 35 m. The tight structural location will pose a challenge for the crane and the construction site logistics but we love a good challenge. Check out our website and sign up to our newsletter for more information on site progress.
