The Europa Galerie is Saarbrücken’s latest shopping attraction. Its architectural sophistication: The modern Center incorporates the historic building of the mining directorate constructed in 1880. The roof made of ETFE pneumatic skins was realized by Temme // Obermeier. They installed specially printed ETFE pneumatic skins. These components are stable and protect the building’s interior from rain and snow. The design’s optical appeal is due to the extraordinary printing of the foils in different color intensities. The installation mounted on an aluminum frame opens the space up to the sky and allows bright sunlight to flood the Galerie all day long. This is what makes each shopping tour an extraordinary shopping event.
